What is speech therapy?
When you seek out speech therapy, you will first receive a comprehensive evaluation of your speech. Your speech-language pathologist will review the results with you and work with you to set goals to improve your communication.
Once you start therapy, you will learn about causes of stuttering and myths and facts about stuttering. You will also learn techniques to ease moments of stuttering.
Another important component of therapy is addressing attitudes and emotions towards speech and communication. You will learn how to reframe negative or unhelpful attitudes, work through past painful experiences, and problem-solve current challenges.
